The following iSchool faculty and students participated in the virtual portion of iConference 2024 from April 15-18. The in-person portion of the conference will be held in Changchun, China, from April 22-26. The theme of this year’s conference is "Wisdom, Well-being, Win-win."
Presenters included:
- Research Affiliate Lian Ruan and Kelda Habina (Illinois Fire Services Institute) presented "Libraries as Partners for Emergency Preparedness and Response in Times of Crisis: Survey Design and Development."
- MSIM student Rohan Charudatt Salvi, Professor Catherine Blake, and Associate Professor Masooda Bashir presented "PrivacyChat: Utilizing Conversational Language Model for Fine-Grained Information Extraction over Privacy Policies."
- Postdoctoral Research Associate Heng Zheng, PhD student Theodore Dreyfus Ledford, and Associate Professor Jodi Schneider presented "Arguing About Controversial Science in the News: Does Epistemic Uncertainty Contribute to Information Disorder?"
- Associate Professor Kate McDowell, Assistant Professor Matthew Turk, and PhD student Xinhui Hu presented "Developing Library and Data Storytelling Toolkits: Scenarios and Personas."
- PhD student Lan Li and Jinpeng Lv (Microsoft) presented the poster, "Unlocking insights: semantic search in Jupyter Notebooks."
- Affiliate Professor Clara M. Chu, Bharat Mehra (University of Alabama), and Jia Tina Du (Charles Sturt University, New South Wales) presented "Information Action Briefs: Advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through Information Research, Practice, and Policy."
